 ALB - D. Gonick 2017 Chair

As President and CEO of Schenectady-based health insurer MVP Health Care, Denise Gonick understands that good health is at the heart of a life well lived. That’s why she guides MVP’s 700,000 members and 1,500 employees in taking charge of their own health and supports organizations like the American Heart Association (AHA) that play an active role in protecting and preserving the health of our communities.

“There is great power in our ability to take simple actions that lead to long-term health and vitality,” says Denise. “We know that by staying physically active, making healthy food choices, working with our health care professionals, and knowing our numbers—blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, body mass index (BMI)—we can greatly reduce our risk for certain diseases. Sometimes we need extra support to make the best decisions and that’s why our community is fortunate that we have the American Heart Association. Supporting the AHA’s mission to end cardiovascular disease and stroke is in my DNA as a health care leader and in the DNA of our company because the AHA reaches so many people with their critical message of education, empowerment, and prevention.”

Denise invites everyone—regardless of whether or not they’ve been directly impacted by heart disease or stroke—to participate in or donate to this year’s Heart Walk. You never know, the life you save could be your own.
