At the end of May, I'm running the Lawyers Have Heart 5K to support the American Heart & Stroke Associations. The work these organizations do has a huge impact on my life. As you may know, my fiance's father recently had a stroke. He's received excellent care at Boston-area hospitals that benefit from American Heart & Stroke Association-funded research. In addition, my dad has a rare cardiac disorder called sick sinus syndrome, and a pacemaker saved his life. Because he is young and active (a daily runner who ran the Boston Marathon in 2:45 in his heyday!), his pacemaker wears out every few years, and he gets a new one. (People with pacemakers tend to be elderly, so there aren't many people out there who go through as many pacemakers as my dad!) The American Heart & Stroke Associations support research on sick sinus syndrome and pacemaker technology.
I am running the Lawyers Have Heart 5K so that my dad, my fiance's dad, and others like them can continue to benefit from advances in cardiac and stroke research.
Thanks for your support!
