Thank you for visting my page! I am thrilled and honored to be running the 2019 Chicago Marathon for the Run with Heart team to raise funds for the American Heart Association. I agree to take on this challenge with tremedous enery & effort! I am lucky to have my Happy Group helping me train in the darkness of morning.
As some of you know, "the heart" has personally affected me. On Christmas Eve 2011, I lost my best friend and Mother at a young 66 to a sudden heart episode. In 2012, my then 11 year old son Brendan suffered an ischemic stroke caused by an unknown aortic disease. Fortunately, he was treated and is leading a very normal teenage life. These events shape the way I approach each day.
Did you know that a heart attack strikes someone every 43 seconds and is the Number #1 killer of women in the US?
Did you know that 2 out of 3 people with aortic disease are men and that over 1M people are living with undiagnosed aortic disease? 95% of these cases can be treated if successfully diagnosed.
I run because I can..and I feel blessed that my body allows me to do so! Living your best healthy life can help lower blood pressure, improve blood sugar/insulin levels and reduce the risk of diabetes and heart disease.
My mission is to raise $4,500 for this 26.2 mile journey while honoring the memory of my mother's life, my son's working heart and all of those have been impacted by heart disease.
These donations will allow the AHA to continue building platforms for research & education, foster cardiac care programs and reduce disability and death caused by cardiovascular disease.
Please consider donating, any amount of your choice..no donation is to small..every bit will get my heart pumping and closer to my goal! #RUNWITHHEART
