I am beyond excited to be raising money for the American Heart Assocation. As a long time listener first time caller of a full lengh marathon (have a few halves under my belt), I couldn't think of a better cause. My dear friend Erin Maher lost her sweet/funny/amazing dad Bill Maher in 2017 to a heart attack.
When I think back on my childhood, some of my fondest memories are of being at Erin's house in middle school almost every other weekend. Which often included staying up late, going to see Billy Maher participate in Math Olympiads, watching Wayne's World, and shooting hoops. These memories also include watching Bill head out for a run - wearing one of his many race or Philly related sport shirts. Looking back, he was the first person I can recall that LIKED to run. It's funny because those memories have stuck with me since I started doing races in my early 20's.
Here's to you, #BillyBilly. Can't wait to raise a Bud to you at the finish line. You are much loved and very much missed.
P.S. - Will keep everyone updated on my progress as I train and promise not to be too annoying with frequency of updates. Thanks for stopping by and checking out the cause. It means a lot!
