Hi! My name is Rachel, and this is my first time running the Chicago Marathon!
I couldn’t run a mile in high school. In 2011, my Dad died from a heart attack. After Dad died, I started to run to make sure I had a healthy heart and could one day teach my children to have the same. What started as a method of exercise has become a true passion. I’ve worked up my mileage over time, and now I’m so excited to say that I’ll be running my first marathon in October...the Chicago Marathon. I’m even more excited that I’ll be running where Dad grew up. So, it’s perfectly fitting that I’ll be raising money during my training for the American Heart Association to promote healthy living and to prevent the number one killer in America. I’ve set a goal to raise $1,965 in honor of the year Dad was born. Can you help me reach my goal?
