Imagine the impact if we reduce death and disability from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by 20% by 2020!
Hello friends and family!
I’m running the Chicago Marathon this October! Yes...you read that right! I’ve decided to run on behalf of the American Heart Association, a cause that’s close to my heart. My dad suffered a heart attack three years ago and I’m grateful to call him a survivor. He collapsed at work and stopped breathing for about 10 minutes. He was lucky, very lucky..the knowledge and quick actions of a coworker helped to save his life and after minutes of intense CPR, he finally started to breathe again. We didn't know what the outcome would be of losing so much oxygen for such a long time but I'm so proud to say that after a long and ongoing road to recovery, he actually just went back to work!
All of this has inspired me to fundraise for the AHA to raise awareness and promote education about heart disease. Honestly, if I wasn’t running for charity I don’t know if I could find the motivation to push myself through 26.2 miles. Will you please help me out?
It takes only a minute to make a secure, tax-deductible online donation. You will not only be supporting me (aka motivating my a$$ across that finish line), you will be funding the fight against the No. 1 killer of Americans.
Chances are you or someone you know has a connection to heart disease or stroke. Please forward this message to your friends and family. Thanks in advance for your support!
A HUGE thank you to all my family and friends who have donated. It has really been an overwhelming feeling having all of your suport! Be sure to track me on the app the day of the run. Hope to make you proud as you have made me!
P.S. Did you know that heart disease claims the lives of more people than the next 3 leading causes of death combined? Insane. I thought this was a cool explanation of how the funds raised will help support critical research and education:
-$25 gives 50 people educational materials that teach them how to personally reduce their risk of heart diseases and stroke
-$50 delivers the message of healthy nutrition to elementary school students through lesson plans and activity guides
-$100 allows one hospital to teach its patients, caregivers, and health professionals about the risks of stroke – the nation's No. 4 killer
Double your Donation! Matching Gifts are an easy way to increase your donation.
