I am a cardiologist with Chicago Cardiology Institute. Back In 2015, I realized that my sedentary lifestyle with increasing body weight had created a dangerous situation, where I was exposed to the risk of worsening health and cardiovascular events. I decided to make a change. I changed my diet and started exercising regularly. As I started getting fitter, my goals became more and more ambitious. I started running and participated in Races with progressively increasing distance. This April, I ran my first Marathon in Carmel, Indiana. My health and energy levels have dramatically changed.
As I reflect on my transformation, I realize a few things. I was lucky to have the vast scientific knowledge base guiding me on the way. Lot of this knowledge has come from research supported by AHA. I also felt that I could help my patients and community with my own experience and guide them in optimizing their health. However the same effort needs to be vigorously applied globally due to epidemic of obesity and sedentary lifestyle that has spread now even in developing countries. Americal Heart Association has been incredible in this area and must be supported.
I am excited to run the Chicago Marathon under American Heart Association Banner and proud to raise money on its behalf. Please donate generously. Every dollar may go towards saving somebody's life somewhere,
