2018 has been designated as the year of pursuit. For many years now, the Bank of America marathon route has taken runners by the Illinois Medical District. If not caring for patients within the emergency department, I often found myself cheering along with spectators on the sidelines. Every year, I would say next year. In November, 2017 my mother suffered a major stroke. As I watch her push forward on the road to recovery, I realize that I need to push beyond my comfort zone.
As an ER physician actively engaged in clinical care and research focused on cardiovascular health disparities, I appreciate the mission of the American Heart Association. Running the Chicago Marathon has been a distant goal of mine for many years. The opportunity to realize this goal and fundraise for an organization committed to research and advancement in cardiovascular and stroke care is literally the “icing on the cake”. My goal is to raise over $1500 for the American Heart Association on behalf of my mother Mrs. Margaret. I appreciate your support!
Thank you for supporting American Heart Association. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.
