I am running the 2018 Chicago Marathon and here is why I chose to run with the American Heart Association...
In 2012, Vince and I made a decision to donate to the American Heart Association in lieu of party favors at our wedding. We had done this for a couple reasons. One, heart disease runs deep in my family and most importantly, this donation was a way for us to remember 3 of our grandparents who were no longer with us on our special day.
Fast forward to July 2014. On this day, my father went in for a routine check-up to learn he had 98% heart blockage. The doctors could not believe he had not had a heart attack yet. At this time, my mother and father immediately went to the hospital where he had a stent put in. Since this day, we had a more clear idea of what it meant to not take him for granted and to take time to make special memories with the ones we love. Now, we have the pleasure of watching him be Poppa to our Sweet Girl. Their unbreakable bond is why I run with heart.
Thank you for your support to raise awareness for heart disease!
