October of 2017, my grandmother Jo, had a heart attack and emergency triple bypass surgery that turned into a quadruple bypass mid surgery as one of the three stints didn’t take. She was in surgery for 9 hours.
I can honestly type here that was the scariest and most helpless time I’ve ever experienced.
My grandmother Jo is one of the strongest, humblest, and kindest humans I have ever known. She is known by virtually all my friends and family and their friends who know her as simply “Gram”.
There have been many many good people throughout history. In my heart my grandmother is among those many great people and undoubtedly she is a circle in the trunk of my family and her family before her.
My grandmothers surgery and survival has inspired me to run the Chicago Marathon for Team for Heart.
Since I have never run a marathon, or even half marathon, and didn’t qualify with the lottery, my goal is to raise $1,500 for the American Heart Association in honor of my grandmother being a survivor of heart surgery and a heart attack and for all those at risk and dealing with heart disease.
We are close to the goal so even a small donation will have a great contribution.
Thank you for supporting American Heart Association and my grandmother Jo Beal
