Every heart has a story, and every life is worth saving.
Recently, my family experienced a frightening reminder of just how quickly life can change. My father, who had no known heart problems and had received regular physical examinations, unexpectedly suffered a heart attack.
Thankfully, he recognized the warning signs and immediately went to the hospital. Because he acted quickly and received lifesaving medical care, doctors were able to place a stent and begin treatment. Today, I am incredibly grateful that he is home and recovering.
This experience made the mission of the American Heart Association more personal to me than ever before.
I now understand firsthand why educating others about heart health, recognizing warning signs, and knowing what to do in an emergency are so important. That knowledge can mean the difference between life and death.
As the principal of McIntosh Elementary School, I want our students to understand that even the smallest hearts can make a BIG difference! Through the American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge, our Scotties have an opportunity to learn healthy habits, help others, and become lifesavers in their own communities.
We aren’t just raising money. We’re raising awareness, teaching lifesaving skills, and helping give families more tomorrows together.
I am supporting the American Heart Association because every family deserves more birthdays, more hugs, more memories, and more time with the people they love.
Together, We Grow. Together, We Give. Together, We Save Lives. ❤
