My Walk is Why!
Life is Why! Join me and Fleet Feet Sports in supporting the American Heart Association!
I’m not just walking. I’m Heartwalking. Back in the 1980s, when I was 16 years old, I started seeing a cardiologist for a simple heart murmur. At that time, it was nothing alarming. Over the years, I developed an irregular heart rhythm, and in 2012, it was discovered the mitral valve was not functioning as well as it should. Now, in 2017, It has come to a point where it needs to be repaired to prevent heart damage and get me back to a point where I can enjoy everyday activities, health and wellness. In September 2017, I will be heading up Mount Sinai in New York City for a mitral valve repair, performed by one of the leading surgeons for this condition. Up until now, it's been hard to accept this is real. I am ready to move forward, get this surgery behind me and be an example for everyone who is struggling with any sort of heart condition.
My participation in Heart Walk promotes fun ways to be physically active and make healthier choices every day. Imagine the impact if we reduce death and disability from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by 20 percent by 2020. Please help me reach this lifesaving goal by donating today. Together, we can make healthier, longer lives possible for everyone.
Thank you in advance for your support!
