Jump for Maisy!
Maisy Eudy is a 7 year old second grader here at Stanfield Elementary. She loves to read and to do anything crafty! Just like any second grader, she loves to run and play around. Unknowingly, she was born with a heart defect called aortic coarctation. One that could potentially turn deadly as she got older. It started with headaches and high blood pressure. Concerned, her mom took her into the pediatrician, expecting to be told “no more salty foods.” or sodas . But Maisy’s doctor felt something else was causing the headaches and high blood pressures and ordered a heart ultrasound. To the family’s shock, Maisy was diagnosed with a kink in the heart artery that pumps blood to her lower body. To remedy this, Maisy will be going to Levine Children’s Hospital on Valentine’s day. After quarantining for a few days, she will undergo surgery to remove the kink and fuse the cut ends together. Maisy’s family is grateful that this was discovered early in her life. Mr. Haigler, the PE teacher and the chairperson for the Jump Rope for Heart, is dedicating this event to Maisy. The Jump Rope for Heart Jump-Off will be on Feb. 27th.
