You never think that it can happen to you. In April of 2011, that all changed. When you are told that you have a 98% blockage in the main artery in your heart that could potentially cause the “widow maker” heart attack, your life changes. I had three stents put in. Thanks to research that was funded by the American Heart Association to develop new techniques, my surgery was less invasive and I was able to travel for work five days later. We have had so many friends, family and colleagues affected by heart disease over the years that we knew supporting the American Heart Association was a perfect fit. We were immediately interested in supporting their efforts to train the youth on Long Island and especially the Wyandanch School District in CPR, healthy eating and exercise. We really feel that if one life could be saved because of our efforts, it could have an undisclosed effect on so many other lives.
