This year, as we celebrate the Centennial of the American Heart Assocation, we will move into our second century with Bold Hearts focused on the work ahead while celebrating our lifesaving history with those who have made it possible. This relentless pursuit will continue until heart disease and stroke no longer exist.
I am participating as a coach and leading a team supporting the UChicago Medicine AdventHealth collaboration with the American Heart Association for the Chicago Heart Walk on Friday, September 20.
In the past, funds raised from the Heart Walk have led to scientific breakthroughs like pacemakers, cardiac stents, and artificial heart valves that keep people alive longer. I am most excited about this opportunity and would like to ask for your support in helping me on this journey.
Please join my team, “Heart Heroes,” and help me raise $2,500 dollars to the cause and walking with me at the event. Click here to join my team “Heart Heroes” and make a donation!
It's important to reflect on the purpose and passion behind our work, especially as we embark on initiatives like the American Heart Association Heart Walk. In the bible, it says, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."
This passage reminds us that our efforts, whether big or small, are significant when done with a sincere heart. When we commit ourselves to causes that promote health, well-being and community support, we are embodying the love and service that Jesus taught.
Let's encourage each other to serve with joy, to lift up those around us and to be a source of light in our communities. Together, we can create a ripple effect of kindness and care that extends far beyond this event.
