As a way to celebrate my upcoming birthday, I am again asking my famiy and friends to donate to the American Heart Association.

Research sponsored by the American Heart Assocaiton is so important, now more than ever, since the National Institutes of Health is cutting back on federal research dollars.

Working with national AHA, I am a patient advisor on scientific committees that publish updates and guidelines on cardiac health.  I've been a member of an A-Fib committee and heart failure committee, with results published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).  It's rewarding work, and I'm honored to work alongside researchrs and clinicians from all around the world.  So many smart and accomplished people!

The research helps me and so many others fight the good fight against heart disease.  Your donation would be a wonderful birthday gift.
