February 6th 2024 changed my life, at the age of 34 I had a Massive Heart Attack, what doctors call the Widow Maker because you usually see this type in men and they usually don't make it, they had to bring me back twice. I was in a coma for 10 days with family and friends praying, including my 9 year old daughter and doctors trying to figure out my next steps. In those 10 day I had an Impella for a few days making my heart pump because it wasn't strong enough to do it on it's own. They spoke of heart transplant, a heart pump I would have to carry around and different things of my future. When I woke up I was scared, didn't know where I was going to go from here. Learning I was in heart failure at such a young age was hard to take in. After many test and doctors appointments and having a defibillator placed in my chest, it is almost 2 years later, I am no longer in active heart failure and feel so much stronger and thrive to keep going for my little family. Doing this walk was my goal last year when I started a Cardiac Rehab exercise class and heard of it. I knew I wasn't stong enough then but with prayers and work, plus a great support system. Here I am!
