Why I'm Fundraising
I'm excited to be nominated for Go Red for Women's Woman of Impact campaign. As part of this year's class of changemakers, I've brought together a team that's working to make the greatest impact possible on women's health. We will be raising much-needed funds for the American Heart Association and working to improve the health of our communities. I hope we can count on your support!
In 2004, Go Red For Women was born as a campaign to raise awareness among women about their greatest health threat — heart disease. Slowly, the campaign grew into a movement bringing together thousands of women. Go Red for Women is the trusted, passionate force for change. It provides a platform for women and their families to lead healthier lives and transform communities. It's not just about wearing red. It's not just about sharing heart-health facts. It's about:
- Providing opportunities for women to take charge of their health
- Building communities that support access to healthy choices
- Demanding equal access to health care for all women and their families
- Increasing women in STEM in upcoming generations
Our team is focused on preventing heart disease and stroke. We're promoting healthy lifestyles, building awareness and raising critically-needed funds to support research and education initiatives. Cardiovascular diseases, which include heart disease and stroke, claim the life of a woman about every 80 seconds. We hope you will join us on our mission because about 80% of these diseases may be prevented.
The time is now. Women are leaning into the idea that when we take a stand, commit, and work together, real change is possible. To support my campaign, click on the Donate to Nominee button below.

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death for women — but together we can change that and help save the lives of mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends.
I am honored to be part of the Go Red for Women® Woman of Impact campaign with the American Heart Association, supporting the mission to improve heart health and save lives.
Thank you for taking a moment to visit this page and learn about a mission that is deeply meaningful to me and to so many families affected by heart disease.
As part of this nationwide initiative, I lead Hearts in Motion, a team committed to education, advocacy, awareness, and meaningful action around heart health.
If you are passionate about advancing women’s heart health, I invite you to join my Hearts in Motion team. Together we can educate, advocate, and raise funds that help save lives in our communities.
This journey is deeply personal to me. Heart disease has touched my life, my family, and my community, and this campaign represents my commitment to helping women prioritize their health, reduce risk, and move forward with strength and hope.
Through Hearts in Motion, we are building awareness, encouraging healthy lifestyles, engaging communities, and raising critical funds to support the lifesaving work of the American Heart Association. Together, we are creating momentum for change — one conversation, one action, and one step at a time.
I am grateful to the Philadelphia Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. for their support and nomination, and I am honored to represent this work during the campaign.
In addition to fundraising, I am available for community outreach, advocacy efforts, speaking engagements, and educational presentations throughout the duration of the campaign.
If you would like to join the Hearts in Motion team, support the campaign, invite me to speak, partner on outreach, or learn more about getting involved, please feel free to reach out.

Even a small gift can make a lifesaving difference. A donation of $25, $50, or any amount helps fund research, education, and community programs that protect women’s heart health.
Fundraising for the Woman of Impact campaign officially began February 6 at 9:00 AM and concludes April 9 at 9:00 PM. Team members may join at any time.
With the campaign concluding on April 9, every donation made today helps move us closer to saving lives and advancing women’s heart health.
If this mission resonates with you, please consider sharing this page with your friends, family, and networks so that together we can expand awareness and help save lives.
Together, we have the power to move hearts, inspire action, and create lasting impact.
With gratitude and purpose,
Arnita DeShields, MSW
