Why I Walk

I have participated in the Richmond Heart Walk for 14+ years. I always walked in honor of my Dad who had a heart attack and quadruple bypass over 30 years ago. He is a survivor and at 85 is still riding his bike 7 miles a day.

This year I walk with another purpose. As most of you know, I lost the love of my life, my husband, Rudy Downey, to a massive heart attack on July 19, 2020. This year, I walk in memory of Rudy and in honor of my dad!! I have created a team – Rudy’s Motley Crew. I walk because I know that with every step, I’m making a difference in someone’s life. And when combined with a million other Heart Walk Heroes across the nation, we have an even greater impact toward curing heart disease and stroke. Will you be a Heart Walk Hero with me?
