Having a stroke at 18 years old is something that I (or the doctors at the Gates Vascular Institute Neuro ICU) never would have predicted. However, almost two years post-stroke, I am back to normal life--a sophomore biomedical engineering student at the University at Buffalo Honors College, secretary of the UB Biomedical Engineering Society, and coach for a local 12U softball team.
But I understand that others aren't so fortunate, which is why I am riding with my teams at the Buffalo CycleNation event. Advocating for the awareness of stroke and cardiovascular disease has become a passion of mine, and I am so thrilled to continue this advocacy on October 27th.
