* When I was first told I was going to be apart of this Nation, I was hesitant. I was thinking "No thanks, that's not really for me". Then I thought about it more & realized that I am this. I have lost or have almost lost my loved ones from a cardiac event or a stroke. And I, unfortunately, know several other peole that have lost or have almost lost their loved ones from them as well.
* On December 31st 2016 my dad passed away very suddenly & very unexpectedly from a cardiac event. Despite immediate care, he did not survive. His passing was devastating to our family. He was 65; I was 34.
* Near the end of 2024, at the age of 42, one of my greatest friends went into full cardiac arrest at home. Thankfully, by some miracle, immediate intervention, & fabulous hospital care, he survived, & we still get to enjoy him in our lives today.
* Many of the people I know have already lost a parent or a loved one to a cardiac event or stroke, starting back in the early 2000's not long after we graduated from high school.
* Two of my grandparents passed away from a stroke.
** So, I will cycle for my dad, for my great friend, for my grandparents, & for all the others that I know that have lost a loved one to a cardiac event or stroke. These are becoming too prevalent in my life & in the lives of those around me.
* Let's help change that!
