My personal story:
You always hear about someone having a stroke or recovering from one, but you never think it will be you.
Last year I suffered from a TIA (mini stroke). My symptoms were not normal. I felt like I had indigestion all week. One evening it turned for the worse, I couldn’t open my left hand. At first it felt weird and almost like I couldn’t believe it was really happening. I even hesitated to do anything for a few minutes as it was late at night, and I didn’t want to wake the whole house. I asked my husband to take me straight to the hospital which is only 10 mins away. By the time we reached the ER I couldn’t move the left side of my face or arm.
The wonderful team of doctor and nurses moved me straight into stroke protocols and with in the first 3-hour time frame they administered the clot busting medication that prevented me from having permanent damage. With in the first 12 hours, I had all my mobility back.
The doctors advised if I had gone to bed and not listen to my body, I would not have been able to have the motion I have today.
I hope sharing my personal story will motivate you to be healthy and keep an eye out for the signs.
Thank you in advance for supporting me with a donation today. Together, we have the power to stop the cycle of stroke and heart disease!
