Last year, my family and I faced the devastating loss of my dad. Grief has been a difficult journey, and while it hasn’t gone away, it has changed me. It pushed me to do more—to honor Vernon Bingham’s legacy and to become a fierce advocate for heart health for my family, for my son, and for the generations who will come after us.
My passion for this mission is even stronger because my mother, Trish Bingham, is a three‑year stroke survivor. And as if that weren’t enough to deepen my resolve, I’ve also watched my husband, Corey Huffman, lose both of his parents (Don Huffman and Sherry Huffman Whitman) to cardiac disease.
Seeing all our parents fight these battles has strengthened my commitment to helping prevent other families from experiencing the same pain.
That’s why I’m honored to lead the American Heart Association’s CycleNation initiative this year, culminating on May 7.
Together, we’re raising awareness, inspiring healthier lives, and funding critical work to combat the number one cause of death in our country.
