Stroke and heart disease have claimed far too many of us. Most everyone I know knows someone who's been affected. The good news is that we can make a difference. That's why I am all in behind CycleNation.Ride. It's a new movement to transform American lives through healthy living. Cycling is one way. Giving is another.
A huge reason why I have decided to join the Executive Leadership Team for Cycle Nation is for my best friend Brett. Brett has been a very close friend of mine for many years and was the best man at my wedding. Brett was born with a congenital heart defect. He spent many of his childhood days in the hospital dealing with this ventricular septal defect. As 12 years old Brett came down with an infection called Bacterial Endocarditis. He had this again as an adult and was hospitalized again and required surgery. With modern technology and advances in heart procedures, the doctors were able to perform a procedure called VSD Closure with catheterization. If not for funding from organizations such as the American Heart Association, Brett would have had to undergo very risky open heart surgery. Brett is now doing great keeping very busy with his 2 daughters. He also has no problem beating me regularly on the golf course!
We need funds to help the American Stroke Association and American Heart Association meet their goal of reducing cardiovascular disease by 20% by 2020, nationwide. That's a high bar, but so worth the challenge. 100% of the funds goes directly to groundbreaking, live-saving research, CPR training, health education, pro-health legislation and more.
I would love to count you as one of my enthusiastic CycleNation supporters. Please give what you can today. It really can help save someone's life tomorrow. Even people we know.
Thanks in advance for supporting me.
