I’m proud to work for the American Heart Association, but my “why” is much more personal.
In March 2024, almost a year into my role, my dad experienced a type of stroke called a transient ischemic attack (TIA). What we initially thought was just a migraine turned out to be something much more serious. Thankfully, instead of trying to tough it out, he went to the ER, and that decision made all the difference.
He did lose a small part of his vision, but we are the lucky ones. I still get to spend time with him, and I don’t take that for granted.
In my role as Arizona Advocacy Director, I have the privilege of working to advance policies that save lives. But experiences like my dad’s are a reminder that there is still so much more work to be done, and that funding this mission is critical to making real progress.
That’s why I’m riding in CycleNation: to raise awareness and funds so more families can recognize the signs, act quickly, and have the same outcome we did.
Thank you for helping me turn this moment into something that can make a difference for others.
