In memory of Ernest Krause
In loving memory of Ernest Krause (05/29/1924 - 05/23/2020), loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was an Addison resident for 66 years. Ernie was actively involved with the Addison Seniors, Senior Socialites, York HAM Radio Club, Knights of Columbus 650, Elmhurst American Legion Post 0187 and Addison VFW. He was on the Citizens Advisory Committee and Senior Advisory Committee for the Village of Addison.
Ernie was a WWII vet, 3rd army 69th division- communications. He fought on the European front, in the Battle of Leipzig in Germany in 1945. After the war, he returned home and finished college with a degree in electrical engineering. He worked at Santa Fe Railroad for five years, then Pioneer Research and Development for the rest of his career. He also designed a device that tested the density of cement.
While at school, Ernie met the love of his life Mary Sychowski at St. Josaphat Catholic Church carnival. They got married and had three children: Kathy, David and Steve. They are all married; Kathy and Chuck have two children; David and Cindy have three children. Steve and Kathleen have a loving dog. Ernie and Mary have eight great-grandchildren.
Ernie was the third oldest child in his family of 12 siblings. He is survived by two younger brothers, Keith and John.
For fun, he loved to go bowling with the seniors, complete his morning crossword puzzle and watch Wheel of Fortune in the evenings.
One last call for K9BFU, Ernie’s HAM radio call sign.
“In your life you touched so many; in your death many lives were changed.
Say not in grief ‘he is no more’ but in thankfulness that he was.
Our father continues to be loved, and therefore he remains by our side.
The sands of time will never wash away the love that we have for you. Your sweet memory will remain forever in our hearts.” ~Steve Krause
