When I first learned that I was going to represent the American Heart Association for Teen of Impact, I was beyond excited. But more than that, I felt a renewed sense of purpose. As a commissioner on Governor Josh Shapiro’s Next Generation Engagement Commission, I’ve had the privilege of learning about incredible organizations making a real difference—one of them being the Payton Walker Foundation, which raises awareness about sudden cardiac arrest.

That’s when Mission AED was born. My goal is simple: to arm Erie in the fight against sudden cardiac arrest by increasing access to AEDs. Through the Nation of Lifesavers under AHA, I’m working to ensure that no one loses their life because an AED wasn’t nearby.

This mission is personal. When I shared my idea with my parents, they told me something I never fully understood—I lost my nana to sudden cardiac arrest when I was just one. The paramedics couldn’t get to her in time.
