I’m proud to be part of a team of changemakers working to make a real impact on women’s health through the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women® Woman of Impact campaign.
This cause is deeply personal to me. In August of 2023, my dad passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack while doing what he loved — fishing. His loss was a life-changing reminder that heart disease can strike without warning.
Since then, I’ve committed to my own health journey and was recently diagnosed with PCOS. Studies show PCOS is associated with a 66% higher overall risk of cardiovascular disease, and women with PCOS may face a 1.79 to 2.57 times higher risk of heart attack. These numbers are why awareness, research, and advocacy matter so much.
Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women, yet women have been underrepresented in research, treatment, and funding for far too long. Together, we can change that — by supporting research, improving access to care, and creating solutions designed for women at every stage of life.
This movement is about more than wearing red. It’s about honoring those we’ve lost and protecting the women we love.
The time is now. Are you with me?
