I'm proud to be on a team of changemakers making a real impact on the state of women's health.
Heart disease isn’t just statistics to me — it’s personal.
I lost my mother to heart disease. Years later, I found myself fighting a similar battle after giving birth to my son. What should have been one of the most joyous times of my life quickly became a fight for survival.
In the weeks following delivery, I experienced alarming symptoms that were repeatedly brushed aside and written off as normal postpartum changes. I was told everything I was feeling was “normal.” It wasn’t. By the time I was finally heard, I was in full-blown congestive heart failure and came dangerously close to losing my life.
Advocating for myself saved me.
Today, I am here because I refused to accept dismissal — and because someone finally listened. My story is a reminder that heart disease doesn’t always look the way we expect, and that women’s symptoms are too often overlooked or minimized. No woman should have to fight to be believed while her life is on the line.
I am proud to support the American Heart Association’s Women of Impact campaign to honor my mother, protect my children’s future, and in service of all women whose voices deserve to be heard. Through awareness, research, and education, we can improve outcomes and save lives.
Thank you for your support and for helping transform lived experience into lasting impact.
Thank you.
