I’m proud to be on a team of changemakers making a real impact on the state of women’s health! Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women. The American Heart Association Go Red for Women movement’s Woman of Impact campaign is working to change that. We’re raising much-needed funds for Go Red for Women and working to improve the health of our communities - to ensure every woman has an equitable opportunity to live a long and healthy life.
This challenge is personally important to me because I am going through cardiovascular issues. In August of 2023, I had 2 ER visits and a hospital stay with hypertensive emergencies with no previous diagnosis of hypertension. After further testing, I was diagnosed with a hole in my heart and a myocardial bridge. At 50 years old, shortly after my diagnosis, even with a diagnosis of Factor V Leiden and having a CVA on Valentine’s Day 2017, my cardiac issues were not discovered. As I continue treatment for my cardiac issues, my goal is to continue to find treatment for others going through the same issues.
We are fighting for better representation in medical research. Fighting for equitable access to care and treatments. Fighting to spread lifesaving information to our sisters.
It’s not just about wearing red. It’s not just about sharing heart health facts. It’s about all of us making a commitment to stand together with Go Red for Women in the fight for heart-health equality.
The time is now. When we take a stand and work together, real change is possible. Are you with me? To support my campaign, click the Donate button.
