Why I’m Fundraising
I am deeply honored and excited to be nominated for the Go Red for Women Woman of Impact campaign in support of the American Heart Association. While this campaign is about raising awareness and critical funding for women’s heart health, for me it is also profoundly personal.
Heart disease has touched nearly every generation of my family. My father survived a heart attack and now lives with congestive heart failure. On my mother’s side, heart disease has been devastating. My grandfather died of a massive heart attack before the age of 65. My uncle also lost his life to a heart attack, and my aunt passed away from a massive stroke. My mother is the first person in her family to live to the age of 70 due to the heavy burden of heart disease that has impacted prior generations.
Because of this history, heart disease prevention is not just important to me—it is essential. I am committed to doing everything I can to reduce my own risk so that I can live a long, healthy life and be present to watch my two granddaughters grow, thrive, and live their very best lives. Supporting the American Heart Association and the Go Red for Women movement is one meaningful way I can honor my family’s story while working to change the future for others.
As part of this year’s nationwide class of changemakers, I have assembled a team dedicated to making the greatest impact possible on women’s heart health. Together, we are raising much-needed funds for the American Heart Association and working to improve the well-being of our communities. Since 2004, Go Red for Women has been addressing critical gaps in awareness and care related to cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death in women. While significant progress has been made, there is still so much work to do.
Go Red for Women remains committed to funding women-focused research, empowering women to live healthier lives, and supporting risk reduction for cardiovascular disease across all ages, stages, and seasons of life. Our team is driven by purpose and focused on impact. We are building awareness, promoting heart-healthy lifestyles, and raising critical funds, because together, we are stronger against heart disease.
I invite you to join my team and support this mission. By joining, you can help amplify awareness and increase the funds needed to drive real change. Simply scroll to the Team Roster and click “Join this Nominee.”
The time to act is now. Beginning February 6th at 9:00 AM, you can support my campaign with a tax-deductible donation. The competition concludes at 9:00 PM on April 9th.
Together, we have an unmatched ability to make a difference—for ourselves, for our families, and for generations to come.
Thank you.
