Who is the Woman in Your Life Worth Saving?
I’ve spent 15 years as a registered nurse, with several years at the bedside racing against time to save lives in the Cardiac ICU, Heart Alert Team, and EP Lab. Unfortunately, not every woman gets the chance to make it to the hospital for interventions, which is why prevention is critical.
- My grandmother passed from a stroke.
- My aunt and cousin suffered strokes and aneurysms in their 20s, that left them with permanent disabilities.
- My best friend—just 34 years old—died from a blood clot just days after giving birth.
For too many women, the first symptom of heart disease is sudden death.
And if no one around them knows what to do, that moment can mean the difference between life and loss.
Every Second Counts. Every Action Saves a Life.
- Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women.
- For every minute without CPR, survival chances drop by 10%.
- Immediate action can double or triple survival rates.
That’s why I've joined the American Heart Association and Go Red for Women on its mission to create a Nation of Lifesavers—because while research saves lives, awareness and action save more.

Imagine if everyone knew how to act in a heart emergency. Imagine if every woman had a fighting chance. That starts with us.
As a driving force in transforming women's health, Go Red for Women is committed to:
Funding Science and Research: For too long, women have been underrepresented. In fact, less than 40% of research participants are women.
Women’s Health Through the Life Course: As a woman ages, her risk for cardiovascular disease changes. Yet the majority of heart attacks and strokes can be prevented through education and healthy living.
Bridging the Gap: Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women, yet women are underdiagnosed and undertreated. From receiving bystander CPR to facing inequities in care, women deserve better.
Our team is driven to prevent heart disease and stroke. We’re building awareness, promoting healthy lifestyles, and raising critical funds Because together, we’re stronger against cardiovascular disease. Together, we have an unmatched ability to drive real change.
