My name is Reagan Heller, and I’m a sophomore at Samuel Wolfson School for Advanced Studies. I’m proud to be part of the American Heart Association’s Teen Impact Program because I’m passionate about raising awareness and helping reduce the number of lives affected by heart disease.
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, and it disproportionately affects women, an alarming fact that too often goes unnoticed. As a young woman, this issue feels especially personal and important to me. Heart disease does not discriminate. It doesn't care about your age, gender, or background. It can impact anyone, and too often, it strikes without warning.
Heart disease has impacted many people close to me, including family members, teachers, and friends. Some have experienced heart attacks, strokes, or other serious heart-related conditions, and even death. Witnessing their struggles has made me realize how essential early education, prevention, and access to healthcare resources really are.
Through the Teen Impact Program, I hope to be a voice for awareness and a source of encouragement to others. I want to help spread accurate information, promote healthier lifestyle choices, and inspire more people, especially women and young people, to take heart health seriously. My goal is not only to raise awareness but also to motivate others to join the fight against heart disease and work toward a healthier future for everyone.
