I’m proud to be on a team of changemakers making a real impact on the state of women’s health! Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women. The American Heart Association Go Red for Women movement’s Woman of Impact campaign is working to change that. We’re raising much-needed funds for Go Red for Women and working to improve the health of our communities - to ensure every woman has an equitable opportunity to live a long and healthy life.
This challenge is personally important to me because I’ve seen the devastating effects heart disease has on the people we love. Now I am fighting back against women’s greatest health threat. Why? Because losing even one woman is too many.
Our team is focused on awareness of congenital heart defects and preventing heart disease and stroke. We’re promoting healthy lifestyles, building awareness and raising critically needed funds to support research and education initiatives. Cardiovascular diseases, which include heart disease and stroke, claim the life of a woman about every 80 seconds. As you may or may not know, my youngest daughter Mila, was born with her heart on the wrong side of her chest as well as a life threatening heart defect. She endured a 7 hour open heart surgery at just 4 days old. The recovery that followed was just as intense, especially when she contracted MRSA in her incision 6 weeks post surgery. We’ve been indebted to the medical teams that have helped her be the very normal kiddo you see today!
We’ve seen first hand what these funds do for treatment, care and overall heart health and would not be where we are without the research and innovation that The American Heart Association has provided.
This is where we need your help! We hope you will strongly consider supporting our campaign by making a tax-deductible contribution to support the AHA in their effort to support congenital heart defects and end adult cardiovascular disease. With your generous support, AHA can continue funding critical research and programming to ensure everyone has a chance to live longer, healthier lives.
It’s not just about wearing red. It’s not just about sharing heart health facts. It’s about all of us making a commitment to stand together with Go Red for Women in the fight for heart-health equality.
The time is now. When we take a stand and work together, real change is possible. Are you with me? To support my campaign, click the Donate button.
