Why I’m a Woman of Impact
My “why” is my mom, Patsy.
She was the heart of our family, strong, caring, and endlessly giving to everyone around her. She passed away from heart and lung disease at 64. We didn't expect heart disease would take her so early.
Her passing changed me forever. It also opened my eyes to how critical awareness, prevention, research, and advocacy truly are—especially for women. Heart disease doesn’t always look the way we expect it to, and too often the signs go unnoticed or dismissed until it’s too late.
Becoming an American Heart Association Woman of Impact is my way of honoring my mom’s legacy and helping ensure fewer families experience the same loss. Every dollar raised supports life-saving research, education, and programs that empower people to recognize symptoms earlier, manage risk factors, and live longer, healthier lives.
I’m proud to stand up for heart health—for my mom, for women everywhere, and for the families who depend on us to make a difference.
Thank you for supporting this mission and helping me turn loss into impact.

Together, we can engage more women in research. We can fight for equitable access to care and treatments. And we can be a catalyst to create health solutions with women’s unique health needs in mind, supporting them through every age, stage, and season of life.
It’s not just about wearing red. It’s not just about sharing heart health facts. It’s about all women connecting and committing to stand together against our greatest health threat.
