Did you know that sudden cardiac arrest is the number one cause of death for student athletes? 1 in 70 schools experiences a sudden cardiac arrest each year. The American Heart Association is working to ensure that all schools are ready to save a life by working to bring CPR training and cardiac emergency response plans to all schools. Here in Illinois, thanks to the AHA, and the hard work of my Niece Heather who is a cardiac arrest survivor we now have mandated cardiac emergency response plans in schools.
