I'm proud to be on a team of changemakers making a real impact on the state of women's health.
My motivation for participating in the Women of Impact campaign is my mother. She was the cornerstone of our family: strong, compassionate, and generous to all. Her passing at the age of 74 from heart and lung disease deeply impacted my life, highlighting the importance of awareness, prevention, research, and advocacy, particularly as heart disease in women often presents with subtle or overlooked symptoms.
Serving as a changemaker allows me to honor my mother by supporting efforts to reduce the prevalence and impact of heart disease. Funds raised contribute directly to vital research, educational initiatives, and programs designed to help individuals recognize symptoms early, manage risk factors, and pursue longer, healthier lives.
I am committed to advancing heart health for women like my mother and their families who rely on these critical resources. Thank you so much for your support in helping me transform the loss of her into meaningful change for others. Your encouragement enables me to channel my grief into positive action, advancing awareness, prevention, and research around heart and pulmonary disease.
By joining this mission, we are working together to ensure that fewer families experience the pain of losing a loved one, and more individuals have the knowledge and resources to protect their heart health. Your support is instrumental in making a real difference and continuing my mother's legacy of generosity and care and I’m deeply grateful.
Facts:
Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women. The American Heart Association Go Red for Women movement's Woman of Impact campaign is working to change that.
Heart disease unfairly targets women, who have been left out of research, testing, treatment and funding. Women have been underrepresented, undertreated and undercounted. But it doesn't have to be this way. Because there's one source of support women can always count on - each other.
Together, we can engage more women in research. We can fight for access to care and treatments. And we can be a catalyst to create health solutions with women's unique health needs in mind, supporting them through every age, stage and season of life.
It's not just about wearing red. It's not just about sharing heart health facts. It's about all women connecting and committing to stand together against our greatest health threat.
