I am deeply honored to be nominated for Go Red for Women's Woman of Impact campaign, supporting the American Heart Association. As part of this year's nationwide class of changemakers, I've brought together a team that's working to make the greatest impact possible on women's heart health. We will be raising much-needed funds for the American Heart Association and working to improve the well-being of our communities. I hope we can count on you for support!
My WHY:
Having been born with congenital complex cyanotic heart disease, double outlet right ventricle (DORV), ventricular tachycardia, and dextrocardia with situs inversus, my life has been shaped by both challenge and gratitude. The groundbreaking research, innovation, and unwavering dedication of the American Heart Association has made it possible for me to not only survive but to thrive through multiple open-heart surgeries and decades of cardiac care. This hits home for me now even more when I think about the high-risk pregnancies with my two children and the teams that have helped to make all of this a reality. I am proud to give back to an organization that has given me—and so many others—the gift of a future. Through this campaign, I hope to raise awareness, inspire advocacy, and help fund the next generation of lifesaving breakthroughs.
Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women. The American Heart Association Go Red for Women movement's Woman of Impact campaign is working to change that.
Heart disease unfairly targets women, who have been left out of research, testing, treatment and funding. Women have been underrepresented, undertreated and undercounted. But it doesn't have to be this way. Because there's one source of support women can always count on - each other.
Together, we can engage more women in research. We can fight for access to care and treatments. And we can be a catalyst to create health solutions with women's unique health needs in mind, supporting them through every age, stage and season of life.
It's not just about wearing red. It's not just about sharing heart health facts. It's about all women connecting and committing to stand together against our greatest health threat.
