The Go Red for Women movement and the Woman of Impact campaign mean so much to me on a deeply personal level. I lost my grandmother to cardiovascular disease, and her life and her final moments continue to shape how I show up in the world. One of the most powerful things I own is a video of her praying out loud before she passed. She wasn’t praying for herself. She prayed that we would continue to do the right thing and the good thing after she was gone. That was who she was, selfless, grounded, and unwavering in her values.
My grandmother lived what she believed. She showed me that goodness isn’t weakness, it’s discipline. It takes strength to stay kind, to choose peace, and to do what’s right even when it’s hard. She once forgave someone who deeply wronged her, not because it was easy, but because, as she said, “I don’t want to carry what doesn’t belong to me.” That lesson has stayed with me, and it’s the spirit I bring into this campaign. Supporting heart health, advocating for women, and doing good in our communities isn’t just work to me, it’s a way of honoring her legacy and the life lessons she lived every day.
