Help Me Save and Change Lives ❤
I’m proud to be part of a team of changemakers making a real impact on women’s health through the American Heart Association Go Red for Women – Woman of Impact campaign.
This mission is deeply personal to me.
My grandma, who meant the world to me, passed away from heart disease in 2000. Losing her shaped my understanding early on of just how devastating cardiovascular disease can be for individuals and families.
Although this campaign focuses on women and heart health, heart disease has also touched the lives of two very important men in my life—my step-dad and my father-in-law. Both experienced heart attacks. Getting those calls was, quite literally, some of the scariest moments of our lives.
In both cases, I was able to be at the hospital to witness life-saving measures in action and to truly see the importance of timely care, skilled medical teams, and ongoing follow-up treatment. I am deeply grateful for the care they received—care that saved their lives. Today, they are both in their 80s.
These experiences reinforced something I’ve seen again and again through my personal life and my 30 years of work in human services with older adults: heart disease and strokes don’t just affect one person—they affect entire families.
And while outcomes for men have improved, women are still too often under-recognized, under-diagnosed, and under-treated. That’s why this work matters so much to me.
I’m saying yes to this campaign to honor those I love, to stand up for women’s health, and to support a future where women are seen, heard, and cared for at every age and stage of life.
This work also connects to my business, Moonlight Lotus Healing, where I support people in creating positive energy shifts, reducing stress, and reconnecting with their bodies—because heart health is not just physical, it’s whole-person health.
The time is now. Are you with me?
