Hello, I'm Ethan Perpich and I'm proud to be part of a team of changemakers taking action through the American Heart Association's Teen of Impact campaign. Heart disease can affect anyone, but together we can change that.
When I was in first grade my mom had a heart attack caused by a spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD). I remember waiting all day not knowing if she was going to make it out alive. It is truly one of the worst possible feelings. I hope as few people as possible have to go through what I did. Through your donations, we are helping the AHA educate people and conduct research to help reduce risk for heart diseases. Heart disease is the leading cause of death globally which is why the AHA is so important.
A SCAD heart attack (spontaneous coronary artery dissection) is a rare type heart attack that often happens in healthy women in their 40's or 50's. While not exclusive to women, most SCAD heart attacks are in women. A SCAD heart attack often happens with no risk factors at all, and can happen again after the first one.
I believe in a future where everyone has the chance to live longer, healthier lives. The American Heart Association is making that future a reality through groundbreaking research, education, advocacy and access to care. Your support powers this mission.
Your gift isn't just a donation, it's a lifeline. It's more than CPR training in schools, healthier meals in communities and new research that will save lives. Every donation fuels lifesaving work and builds stronger, healthier communities.
