I'm proud to be part of a team of changemakers taking action through the American Heart Association's Teen of Impact campaign. Heart disease can affect anyone, but together we can change that.
I chose to say yes to joining the Teen of Impact campaign because of my personal connections to heart and cardiovascular issues. I have family that have or are fighting with issues. My grandfather has a pacemaker. My great uncle was on the heart transplant list. Two of my uncles had a stroke due to a carotid dissection. I also said yes because I want to help make an impact in my community. I want to raise money for lifesaving research, but more importantly to me, I want people to know more about this problem that is so prevalent. I want to spread awareness from little facts to teaching people the signs of a stroke. That is why I said yes, I want to spread awareness about the thing that is killing people the most.
