WHY you ask?!?!?!?
These two faces are a HUGE why I am working tirelessly to raise money for the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women, Woman of Impact.
I need to stay healthy for these little guys. My heart is bigger and fuller with them in my life and I need to make sure it stays healthy!
Can you believe that less than 40% of research participants are women and yet heart disease is the #1 killer of women! We can impact change through raising money for research and education along with CPR training throughout our community.
My husband, Fred, went into cardiac arrest in October, 2023, while playing in a charity golf tournament. He just had a routine appointment with his cardiologist two weeks prior, had no chest pain or other warning signs of this impending event and then his heart just STOPPED! Had one of his teammates not been familiar with CPR and took immediate action doing hands-on compressions until the paramedics arrived, he would not be here today. An event like his has a 13% chance of survival and keeping Fred's heart pumping by hand prevented both heart and brain damage.
I am urging each of you to learn this life saving technique. There are just 2 quick steps:
- Call 911
- Push hard and fast in the center of the chest at 100-120 beats per minute (think of compressing to the beat of staying alive by the Bee Gees
