Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women. It takes our mothers, our sisters, our aunties, our friends-and far too often, it takes them without warning. For me, this fight is not abstract. It is personal. It is my family's story.
I recently became the guardian of my 11\u2011year\u2011old cousin after he lost his mother and both grandparents to heart disease. Three lives in one family, all taken by the same silent threat. And just when I stepped into the American Heart Association's Woman of Impact boot camp-ready to advocate, ready to fight-my own sister suffered a mini stroke.
The same week I began this campaign, my family was reminded again how urgently women need awareness, research, and care that truly sees us.
Women have been underrepresented, undertreated, and undercounted in heart health for generations. But it doesn't have to stay this way. Because if there's one thing women can always count on-it's each other.
That's why I joined the American Heart Association's Woman of Impact campaign.
I'm fighting for:
- Women who don't know the symptoms
- Families who never saw it coming
- Girls growing up in communities where heart disease feels inevitable
- My sister
- My cousin
- The loved ones we've lost
- And the women we can still save
Together, we can push for more research centered on women. We can fight for access to care. We can create solutions that honor women's unique health needs at every age and every stage of life
This campaign is not just about wearing red.
It's not just about sharing facts.
It's about standing together-loudly, boldly, and urgently-against the No. 1 threat to women's lives.
The time is now.
And I'm asking you to stand with me.
If my story moves you... if you've been touched by heart disease... if you believe women deserve better...
