Family and Friends,
In 2024 a family I love experienced a challenging year. Their youngest daughter Ava, was first discovered with a congenital heart defect and overcame open-heart surgery. The family was all tested and that is when they learned their older daughter, Alexis also has a congenital heart defect.
Alexis's congenital heart defect is different and more rare than Ava's but thankfully she is healthy and asymptomatic. At this time surgery is not recommended but lifelong monitoring. As a teen she is navigating what it means to care for her heart and health for her future.
Alexis has been nominated for the American Heart Association's Teen of Impact Campaign. She is making a difference by sharing her story, raising funds and awareness. I am so proud to join her team and help advocate for heart health education, cardiac emergency response planning and early detection.
Your donation will make a difference. It can help fund groundbreaking research to prevent heart disease, educate schools on healthy living and lifesaving skills like CPR. and provide access to quality healthcare for all. Please join us and support the American Heart Association's Teen of Impact Campaign.
