Participating in Leaders of Impact is personally important to me because I've seen the devastating effects heart disease has on those we love. One of Madison's best friends and fellow 5th grade classmates was diagnosed with a heart condition and his very young age. At 9 years old, Sebastian, was diagnosed with a heart condition that turned his and his family's lives upside down and we've witnessed alongside of them the challenges, fears and life adjustments it has brought them. They quickly found out that not many people are knowledgeable in heart health nor trained in what to do in an emergency, and wanted that to change. Sebastian's mom (also our very good friend), Amanda, is a school nurse, and in a position that can help influence health in our community. Sebastian and his family's passion for advocacy and emergency training is so inspiring and I want to help them promote and advocate for the Kids Heart Challenge in local schools, as well as train staff and students in CPR and what to do in an emergency. The school Amanda works at is also the first school in Allegheny County to be designated as a Heart Safe School through Project ADAM.
Please join her team, share my posts and donate if you can to help this cause. Together, we can truly make an impact and ensure that every member of our community will have the greatest opportunity to lead their best life. Sebastian is thriving, even amongst all he's gone through, and making the best of his situation. He truly wants to help other kids with special hearts and we are always rooting for him!!
Thank you so much in advance for your help spreading the word and for your generous donations!
