I am deeply honored to be nominated for the American Heart Association?s Leaders of Impact campaign. This opportunity is especially meaningful to me because it allows me to honor the memory of my mother, who passed away in February 2023 from pulmonary hypertension. Pulmonary hypertension is a progressive heart condition with no known cure, and watching my mother fight this disease showed me firsthand just how urgent the need is for continued research and funding.
Being part of this campaign gives me a way to channel my grief into purpose. It allows me to not only carry my mother?s legacy forward, but also to help raise awareness and critical funding that could one day lead to a cure. My hope is that through efforts like this, another family won?t have to experience the same loss that mine has endured.
For me, this work is personal. Every conversation, every dollar raised, and every step forward is a tribute to my mom?s strength and spirit. I am committed to doing all I can to support this cause and to help others in this fight, with the belief that together we can make a lasting impact.
Despite many advances, cardiovascular disease is still the No. 1 killer in the US. The American Heart Association is committed to advancing health and hope for everyone, everywhere. We're removing barriers to health through work in communities, scientific research, advocating for health policies and more.
That's why I'm committed to being a part of this relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives for all. I believe in this cause and our ability to make an impact in our local community and across the country, and I'm asking for your support.
