Despite many advances, cardiovascular disease is still the No.1 killer in the US. And while approximately 80% of cardiovascular disease could be prevented through a healthy diet, physical activity, a healthy weight, not smoking, controlled blood pressure, diabetes, and lipid levels - the disparities in access to care, nutrition, and healthy environments make achieving these goals far too difficult for far too many people. That's why I am committed to being a part of this relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives.

Every Second Counts - Join Me Before Nov. 5
I'm honored to be nominated for the American Heart Association's Leaders of Impact campaign - and I'm all in to make a difference.
Why me? My mom survived a massive, unexpected heart attack only because someone nearby knew CPR and acted. That moment gave her the chance to become a grandmother - and it drives me to make sure every family has that same chance.
But not every story ends this way. Too many schools and communities still aren't ready for a cardiac emergency. That's what I'm fighting to change.
Why now? Cardiovascular disease is still the No. 1 killer in the U.S. And in too many neighborhoods, families face higher risks simply because they lack access to basics like healthy food, safe housing, and quality care.
What?s the plan? Through this campaign, I'm raising funds to equip Chicago schools with CPR kits, AEDs, and Cardiac Emergency Response Plans (CERP) - giving students, teachers, and communities the power to save lives.
