My why is pretty simple. It’s faith and family.
My 13-year-old niece, Sofia, was born with VSDs, so heart health has always been personal to me. I’ve watched her grow into this amazing young woman, and I know that research, great doctors and advances in heart care are a big part of why families like ours get to watch kids like Sofia grow up.
My faith is also a huge part of why I said yes to being a fundraising leader for the American Heart Association. I believe God puts people, opportunities and resources in our lives for a reason. When you have the ability to help, I believe you should.
I’ve been incredibly blessed in my life, especially with the people and relationships I’ve built along the way. If I can use those relationships to bring people together, raise money and help another family have more time with someone they love, that’s an easy yes for me.
So I’m doing this for Sofia. I’m doing it because of my faith. And I’m doing it because I believe we all have an obligation to use what we’ve been given to leave things a little better than we found them.
