We are walking to raise funds, support research, screening and awareness for Congenital Heart Defects (CHD). CHDs are the most common birth defect in the U.S. I was born with a CHD.  

1 in 100 babies are born in the U.S. with a CHD. That is 40,000 children per year and although a great amount of information has been gathered about CHDs there are still much to learn. Long term prognosis and care as these children become adults is relatively understudied. There are 1.8 million adults in the U.S. living with CHDs

Funding CHD research is a great way to advance the understanding of why CHDs occur and to aid in the ongoing development of cutting edge treatments and care for CHD kids and adults. There is no cure. This is a lifetime of heart health management and care. More than 50% of all children born with a CHD will require at least 1 invasive surery in their lifetime. 

Our goal is to help make the lives of children living with CHDs, their parents, families and friends the best they can be by funding research, and we're having fund doing it at the Heart Walk, one step at a time!
